Description

Sean has been enamored with art from a very early age. He spent all his free time in high school selling fine art to collectors, had a cartoon series in local papers at a very young age, and achieved international recognition as a fantasy artist and illustrator.

He went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art from College of Santa Fe in New Mexico, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from Northern Arizona University. During this time, Sean studied figurative art in New York city with artist Philip Pearlstein, as well as studying the art of fresco under Shawn Dulaney. From his time spent with Dulaney, Sean was able to learn the process of fresco, installation, and creation of his own fresco panels.

Sean has displayed his work in many prestigious galleries in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and other places. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Lori, and they have one son, Christian.
Description of your work: Trompe-l’oeil, (French: “trick the eye”), is an art technique involving realistic imagery in order to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects appear in three-dimensions, instead of actually being a two-dimensional painting. It can also be spelled without the hyphen in English.

This technique has been utilized for quite a long time. It was widely used by artists in the XVI century to perceptively alter the architecture of buildings and cathedrals.

Creating the illusion of space through Trompe L’oeil is my specialty. The murals I paint have a very realistic feel to them and the level of detail applied in the execution is what makes them stand out so much. My murals are very much a part of my client’s experiences. I have often times incorporated into the renderings my client’s personal travels, collections and interests. The murals are actually painted off-site. I will visit with the clients, learn about their wants and will measure the site where the mural will be installed. After sketches are done and approved, I will paint on canvas and once finished, have it professionally installed on site for a seamless blend.
